Fascias and soffits: what do they do?
More than looking nice (which they do) fascias and soffits serve very specific purposes. Firstly, they protect your home from pests like bats, squirrels, and various insects. The added lip to your roof keeps the bats and squirrels from making it to the exterior wall, thus keeping them out of your house. They also provide extra protection for the ventilation for your attic.

However, do not worry, it’s just as easy to get rid of mould and mildew on your soffit as it is to get rid of it anywhere. Simply scrub with a broom and a cleaning solution made with bleach and water, and the mould/mildew will disappear almost instantly.
